Instructions for contributors

Please address all history submissions to Dr. Zuzana Černáková (zuzana.cernakova.ac@gmail.com),

classical philology, linguistics and literature submissions to Mgr. Mária Májeková (majekovamaria@gmail.com).

Submissions from other disciplines can be addressed to either of the editors.

MAXIMUM LENGTH of a scholarly paper is 40 pages (72 000 characters), including footnotes. Limits for essays and reviews are 20 (36 000 characters) and 10 (18 000 characters) pages respectively.
Papers should be submitted together with a full bibliography, an English abstract of ca. 150 words, a list of four to six keywords and short information about the author, including name, academic title and affiliation.
REVIEWS are welcome on any publication from the area of medieval and ancient studies published in the last three years.
ILLUSTRATIONS: We accept illustrations in jpeg, pdf or eps formats with minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Please mark the requested position in the text by "Fig. 1: Figure description".
It is author's responsibility to obtain permissions to use any copywrighted image.
LANGUAGE: All contributions can be submitted in English or Slovak language. Contributions in other languages may be acceptable after consultation and with approval of an editor.
SOURCE QUOTATIONS: In the main text, source quotations should be in English. The original language texts should be quoted in a footnote. In case of non-English scholarly literature paraphrases are preferred to quotes unless necessary for a particular argument.
FORMAT: Please submit your contributions in Times New Roman 12, one and a half spacing in one style without excessive formatting (e.g. links, hyperlinks, page numbers, breaks). When copying text from other sources or from footnotes it is advised to paste as unformatted text.
NUMERALS: Page ranges should be given with hyphens and in full number of digits, i.e. "p. 233-234" instead of the English standard "p. 233-4".
SPELLING and PUNCTUATION: For submissions in English, British spelling and punctuation conventions apply.
REFERENCES: Medea follows the referencing system of Historický časopis (https://www.historickycasopis.sk/) with minor adjustments.
Note absence of the "ref."-system and ISBN/ISSN numbers.
